The Spirit and power of Elijah needed to bring rain to Singapore and more!

It has been over a month of just hot and dry weather in Singapore with no rain after the Chinese New Year celebratiions of 2014! Look at how dry the ground have become everywhere! Made me wonder what has happened to our weather especially in the equator where with our high humidity, rivers lakes and seas around us, there should be convectional rain that will create clouds and downpours regularly!

Saturday 15th of March is the day of a Family History Event at our Clementi Ward of the Church in Singapore. I was to meet two persons that day. One was my old class mate joining me for lunch before the event and the other is a lady secretary from the Nanyang Hakka Guild whom I had invited for the event and was to meet me at the Haw Par Villa MRT station near Church.

As my friend and I stepped out after lunch from our home, look what happened :

Is my name Mountain of Luck (山福) or what? Just stepped out of the home early this afternoon with my friend and it...

If you read the comments section of the post above, I had checked the status of friends in other parts in Malaysia of their weather condition and most reported having a dry spell previously but the rain had started to return again!

Here is my old class mate feeling estastatic about the light rain coming down from the sky! The rain only lasted for about 5-10 mins.

Later when I got to Church and informed the Sister missionaries that the lady secretary was coming to the event, the three of them went out on the street to wait for her and it rained again!

The Day's rain , though short, reminded me of the miracle of bringing rain by Elijah as recorded in 1 Kings 18:41-45 -

41 ¶And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; forthere is a sound of abundance of rain.
42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,
43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.
45 And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

The importance of the role of the prophet Elijah in the restoration of the Gospel in these latter-days to pass the keys of the sealing power of the priesthood in our dispensations has been explained in a previous post. His power manifested in the old testament of changing the weather may be evident today too but more important is that he has passed the sealing power and authority to the Church today. It is therefore possible for members of the Church to carry out sacred sealing ordinances for families in the temple and inspire family history work in the world before the second coming of the Savior Jesus Christ.

It was the Spirit of Elijah that inspired me to walk into the Nanyang Hakka Guild office in Singapore to meet with the lady secretary, 2nd from the left, as recorded in this previous post. She was introduced to the missionaries and was able to visit the Clementi ward on the day of the family history event. She had greatly helped me to find my ancestral village in Songkou, Meixian China shared in this journal post.

The following photos are from the event :

There were interesting exhibits

With Cultural dance performances -

Including talks and large screen presentations -

With a variety of cultural food served in the end too!

The work of salvation has indeed been hastened by the Spirit of Elijah in Singapore. Well done Clementi Ward!
